Chocolate Chip Cookie Bath Bombs

You guys! I am so excited to bring you these bath bombs. These were a very happy accident as Bob Ross would probably say. I was actually trying to make a chocolate fudge round bath bomb and it was not working out at all. The first time I tried making them, my round bombs were flattening out and I was super frustrated until I realized they looked like cookies! Then, it hit me; I could so make these into chocolate chip ‘cookies’. There are cupcakes out there as bath bombs, so this sweet looking treat would be so much fun!

These cookies smell absolutely delicious as you take a bath in chocolate. Your skin will come out with a light cocoa scent , too! And, since they have cocoa butter in them, they are great as a moisturizer. This ‘recipe’ makes approximately 8-10 cookies that are 4-5 inches across. Why not make them and give them as gifts this holiday season? If you have a loved one on your guest list that really enjoys chocolate, you could make them a chocolate themed gift basket and place these in there. Just make sure they know they are bath bombs because I can almost bet these don’t taste nearly as good as they smell!

Chocolate Chip Cookie Bath Bombs

To make Chocolate Chip Cookie Bath Bombs, you will need:

1 1/4 Cups Citric Acid

2 Cups Baking Soda

1/2 Cup Raw Cocoa Powder

3 Teaspoons Melted Raw Cocoa Butter

Spray Bottle with water

For the ‘Chocolate Chips’, You will need:

2 1/2 Tablespoons Raw Cocoa Powder

10 Chocolate Chips

4 Tablespoons Raw Cocoa Butter

Using a whisk, mix the citric acid and baking powder together. Make sure they are evenly mixed. Then, add in your cocoa powder and mix it in.

Melt your 3 Teaspoons of raw cocoa butter. It looks like this. It is very hard and you will probably need to use a knife to carefully cut it out of the tub.

Pour it into your mixture and mix it in. Don’t worry about getting rid of any chunks. It adds to the cookie’s texture and makes it look like chips.

Now, this part must be done with care. Spray your mixture with water approximately 4 times. Quickly mix in with your hands evenly.

Your mixture will start to come together. Pick some up in your hands and press it together. If it crumbles, it isn’t ready. This is my mixture that is still crumbly. Do this test each time you spray and mix.

You will know when it is ready when you pick it up and press it and it stays together. It will look like this.

After you have the right mixture, press it into tight balls. Place each one onto some parchment paper about 2 inches apart. You will see them start to flatten out. Allow them to dry air dry.

About halfway through drying (about 30 minutes in) carefully use a spatula to flip them over so the other side dries.

Now you can make your ‘chocolate chips’. Just mix the ingredients together in a double boiler. I like to use a mason jar in a bath of water in a pot on the stove. I stir with a bamboo skewer. When it is melted and your cookies are dry, flip them back to the top and using a spoon or the tip of something, drop some droplets of it on the tops to look like chips. Allow to completely dry overnight before using them or packaging them for gifts.

To use the bath bomb simply place it in the tub. It won’t stain the tub and the cocoa butter will melt into the water.
